Our Commitment to Your Privacy

At Molten, we believe your creative work and inventory data should remain completely private. We've designed the app from the ground up with privacy as a core principle, not an afterthought.

Simple summary: Your inventory data stays on your devices and in your iCloud account. We don't collect any data from the app itself.

What We DON'T Collect

  • ✗ We don't collect your inventory data
  • ✗ We don't access your personal notes or tags
  • ✗ We don't track your in-app behavior or usage patterns
  • ✗ We don't sell or share your data with third parties for advertising
  • ✗ We don't use advertising networks
  • ✗ We don't require account creation or login

Where Your Data Lives

Local Storage

All your inventory data is stored locally on your device using Apple's Core Data framework. This data never leaves your device unless you enable iCloud sync.

iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you enable iCloud sync, your inventory data is synchronized between your devices using Apple's CloudKit framework. This means:

  • • Your data syncs directly between your devices via your personal iCloud account
  • • We never have access to your synced data
  • • Apple encrypts your data in transit and at rest
  • • Only you can access this data through your Apple ID

Note: Catalog data (the 2,500+ glass items in our database) is stored locally and does not sync via iCloud to prevent unnecessary data duplication.

Photos

Custom photos you add for glass items are stored in your device's local storage and backed up via iCloud if you have iCloud backup enabled. These photos are never sent to our servers.

Cloud Backups (Pro Feature)

Pro subscribers can enable automatic cloud backups of their inventory data to our servers. These backups are:

  • • Indexed by a randomly-generated ID created on your device — we cannot link backups to you personally
  • • Stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure
  • • Completely under your control — you can disable backups or delete all backup data at any time from the app

Inventory Sharing (Optional)

You can choose to share your inventory with others by generating a sharing code. When you share:

  • • You control what display name is shown to people you share with
  • • Only people you give your sharing code to can view your inventory
  • • You can revoke access at any time by turning off sharing
  • • Shared data is automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity
  • • Shared inventory data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure while sharing is active

Information We Collect

App Store Analytics

When you download Molten from the App Store, Apple may share basic analytics with us such as number of downloads, app usage statistics, and crash reports. This data is anonymized by Apple and cannot be linked to individual users. You can control this in your device's Privacy settings under "Analytics & Improvements."

Support Communications

If you contact us via email for support, we retain your email and the content of your message to help resolve your issue. We never share this information with third parties.

Your Rights and Controls

You have complete control over your data:

  • ✓ Delete your data: Uninstalling the app removes all local data. iCloud data can be managed in your iCloud settings.
  • ✓ Delete cloud backups: Delete all your cloud backup data at any time from the app's Settings.
  • ✓ Stop sharing: Revoke inventory sharing access instantly by turning off sharing in the app.
  • ✓ Disable iCloud sync: Turn off iCloud sync in your device's Settings to keep data local only.
  • ✓ Control Apple analytics: Adjust Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements on your device.
  • ✓ Request data deletion: Contact us at info@moltenglass.app to request deletion of any data we hold (such as support emails).

Third-Party Services

Molten uses the following third-party services:

Data Retention

  • • Local app data: Retained until you delete the app or clear its data.
  • • iCloud data: Retained in your iCloud account until you delete it.
  • • Cloud backups: Retained until you delete them from the app or disable backups.
  • • Shared inventory data: Automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity, or immediately when you turn off sharing.
  • • Support emails: Retained as long as needed to resolve your issue, then archived.

Children's Privacy

Molten is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us at info@moltenglass.app.

International Users

Molten is operated from the United States. If you are using the app from outside the United States, please be aware that any information you provide (such as support emails) may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

  • • Posting the new policy on this page
  • • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top
  • • Notifying you via the app if the changes are significant

We encourage you to review this policy periodically for any changes.
